This is why I live here!
Destiny gets ready for a
tracking lesson
Crissie was the first service dog I raised
for Canine Companions for Independence.
She started the R.E.A.D program at our
local library.
Kodi and best friend Dickens
earned their backpacking titles on
this trip
Destiny and Kodi just back from the
groomer-- all dressed up and nowhere to
go!
Kodi and I were at the bottom our our agility class. I
couldn't tell my left from my right, and Kodi had a
tendency to take one jump and keep on running--
usually to the nearest sheep pen! Now Kodi is
competing at the Elite level, and in 2005 was one of
the fastest collies in Georgia!
Rhythm 'n' Blues, a three year old blue merle Border
Collie, came to me from Carolina Border Collie Rescue.
Border Collies are not an easy breed to own, and I've
always believed that, as a trainer, you have to earn your
way to a border collie. When I met Rhythm, though, I
realized I could never do anything to deserve a great dog
like this. He is my lesson in wonder every day.
Glitter started life as an assistance dog in
training for Canine Companions for
Independence, but soon realized that was
not the life for her. Now she is a certified
therapy dog, a freestyle champion, and an
all around pampered member of my canine
family!

Mysteries for dog
lovers-- by
someone who knows
dogs!
The blur in the middle is Kodi at a herding
lesson. The instructor looks a little
concerned-- but don't worry, no sheep
were harmed in the taking of this photo!
This is Kodi with Dr. Bentley, a Business Communications professor at a local college. Kodi presented a program on operant conditioning to business majors which illustrated the value of positive reinforcement in the workplace. What a clever dog!

Asheville, N.C. You don't have to be a
sighthound to love this sport!
